About me
James Meadours is a leading advocate for the rights of people with IDD. He has served as President of People First of Oklahoma, Chair of Self Advocates Becoming Empowered, and President of Texas Advocates. He is also a recipient of The Arc’s Catalyst award and serves on both the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities and the Centene National Disability Advisory Council. A survivor of sexual assault, James has raised awareness through NPR’s Abused and Betrayed series and Seen and Heard: IDD Community. As Advocacy and Outreach Lead for Strategic Education Solutions, James presents at conferences, recruits and trains team members, and builds partnerships. He has spoken at major national events, including The Arc of the US, the National Adult Protective Services Association, and SXSW Edu
